Advertising Humanity

This artwork presents a fictional advertisement set in a future world dominated by AI, using the artist’s own face as a model. The unnatural gaze of the woman in the work hints at something beyond the reach of even exponential technological progress—‘humanity.’

Inspired by late 1980s Japanese bubble-era TV ads, this piece captures the illusion of a better future driven by technological and capital growth, and the eventual downfall of that dream. Through its broadcast on television across America and on public screens in Times Square, it creates a site-specific experience that evokes a mixture of unease and fascination in viewers.

The work’s central theme calls into question the ethics of our rapidly changing modern society. Ironically, this AI-generated work raises this question to us humans: “Can AI truly capture the meaning of being human, or is human nature something AI can never possess?”
